Controls in English, Korean, Spanish, Arabic, and Portuguese. Arabic includes right-to-left support. YouTube content and Android system screens use their own language settings.

Set up your child’s device

  1. Download the APK on the Android phone or tablet. If Android asks, allow your browser to install this app. You can turn that permission off afterward.
  2. Open Guardian Lock and enter your existing product key. Normal installation does not require a factory reset or account removal.
  3. Choose your language and create a private parent PIN. Keep the phone’s screen-lock code private too; it is separate from the Guardian Lock PIN.
  4. Find and approve channels or individual videos. Review channels carefully: approving a channel includes its current and future videos. Set any viewing limits you want.
  5. Enable Android screen pinning and its option to require the device’s unlock code before unpinning. The setting name and location vary by device.
  6. Start Child Mode and accept Android’s screen-pinning prompt. Try Home, Recent Apps, and the unpin gesture yourself. Confirm that leaving the pinned app requires the device’s unlock code before handing it to your child.

What to expect from this beta

Tested on a Samsung Galaxy S21. Other Android phones and tablets may behave differently. Guardian Lock controls viewing inside its app; Android screen pinning is not full managed-device lockdown. Parent supervision is still needed.

Keep the app updated. To report a problem, include your device model, Android version, app version, and the steps that caused it. Do not send your PINs or product key.
