Guardian Lock began with a simple concern: I wanted my children to benefit from the educational videos available on YouTube without giving them unrestricted access to the entire platform.
As a homeschooling father, I saw how quickly children could move from an educational video to unrelated channels, YouTube Shorts, recommendations, and content I had never approved.
Completely blocking YouTube would remove a valuable learning resource, but leaving it completely open did not feel safe. I wanted another option, so I created Guardian Lock.
What Guardian Lock Does
Guardian Lock gives parents and authorized adults greater control over what children can access on YouTube.
Parents choose the YouTube channels they trust. Guardian Lock allows those approved channels while blocking access to channels that have not been approved.
Guardian Lock can help:
- Allow access to parent-approved YouTube channels
- Block videos from unapproved channels
- Block YouTube Shorts
- Protect parental controls with a PIN
- Reduce unrelated browsing and scrolling
- Preserve access to educational, instructional, and family-approved content
Guardian Lock is designed to supplement responsible parental supervision, not replace it.
Available Platforms
Guardian Lock is available as a Google Chrome extension and currently supports:
- Google Chrome on Windows 10 and Windows 11
- Chromebook and ChromeOS

Compatibility with other operating systems and browsers should not be assumed unless confirmed by Guardian Lock.
An Android beta app for phones and tablets is also available. It uses the same active Guardian Lock product key, within your device allowance. Read the setup guide for Android requirements and the limits of screen pinning.
Multilingual Interface
Guardian Lock’s controls are available in:
- English
- Spanish
- Portuguese
- Arabic
- Korean
This makes Guardian Lock more accessible to families in different countries while keeping the same approved-channel protection.
Security and Purchasing
The Guardian Lock website uses an encrypted HTTPS connection.
Paddle is our authorized Merchant of Record and securely handles payments, subscriptions, taxes, cancellations, and refunds. Guardian Lock does not directly collect or store complete payment-card information.
Our Commitment
Guardian Lock is a new, independently developed product created to help parents and educators provide access to useful YouTube content while maintaining meaningful control.
Because YouTube and Google Chrome may change over time, no parental-control product can guarantee perfect protection in every circumstance. I am committed to monitoring compatibility, addressing problems, and improving Guardian Lock as these platforms evolve.
